The 7-Photo Day

Reflection:

The first image was photographed with the goal in mind to visualize the early morning. The image embodies many warm colors which implies the mood of the morning. I also choose the photograph in which my dog appeared most tired, once again repeating this theme of early morning. The next image was picked in order to set up the context for the rest of my day. These are the people I am with, so I thought it was important to establish their presence early. My objective with the third image was to make the halfway point in the photo story. The exposure and time of day communicates this. The next image is meant to be the transition from mid day into the late afternoon. We see the same characters we were exposed to earlier, which is meant to further the consistency of the story. The fifth image is meant to expand the net of the story by showing other characters. The last two images are meant to wind down the story through the lighting and color choices. The day is clearly coming to an end, while still staying consistent with the stories visual components. Being limited to 7 photographs to document an entire day is essentially impossible. It makes the photographer think extremely hard about which images they pick. I tried to pick images from different parts of the day so that the audience would easily be able to infer the progression through factors such as lighting and color. With the limit of only 7 photographs, there will inevitably be a lot of this day that the audience won’t be able to see. This is why its so important to plan out your images so that you can get as close to telling the full story as possible.
